Deposit, cleaning and excess

Boat hire is at your own risk. You are responsible for the boat and accessories at all times. Fiskesenter Birkeland has insurance for damage to the boats. The excess is 300 or 500 euros.

Everyone wants a clean boat in good condition for an enjoyable time on the water. At the start of the rental, we check the condition of the boat together. When returning the boat, we check it again together. In this way, we ensure clarity and good agreements during the rental. Water and cleaning equipment are available at the marina for your use.

A deposit of NOK 3000 is required for renting the boats. If desired, you can also pay the deposit in Euro, which will be 300 Euro. You can pay the deposit in cash at reception when you rent the boat. If the boat is returned undamaged, the deposit will be refunded immediately.

You can also pay the deposit via bank. Due to exchange costs, an amount in NOK can be transferred to our Norwegian account. An amount in Euros can be transferred to our Dutch Euro account. If you transfer the deposit to our Norwegian account, two exchange costs will be deducted and we cannot refund the entire deposit amount.

Payment in Euros: 300 Euro to account NL81 INGB 0007 5290 60 t.n.v. D.R. Vreeswijk.

Fuel

Boat hire prices do not include petrol and engine oil. We ensure that the boats are refuelled at the end of the day, and that there is enough petrol on board for a day at sea. Petrol will be settled at the end of your stay. Keep in mind that larger engines in particular consume a lot of petrol. Consumption of more than 20 litres per day is not uncommon.

Windy days

The possibility of sailing out depends on the weather. If conditions are too dangerous, it is not possible to go out. In summer, this generally does not happen very often. In early spring and autumn, the chance of storms is considerably higher. The weather here is generally calmer than in northern Norway.

Rules of conduct

Sea fishing is serious business. Never forget to respect the sea with all its capriciousness and use your common sense:

  • Always wear a life jacket
  • Do not consume alcohol, especially as a boat driver.
  • Should unexpected problems arise, you can always contact us. Make sure the number of the fiskesenter is always in your phone. Also put the number of the coast guard in your phone.
  • Stay at a minimum distance of 100 metres from fish farms.
  • Dress according to the weather conditions. Bear in mind that it is often colder on the water than on land. Heat suits can be rented at the fiskesenter.
  • Treat the fish and other animals with respect. Release the fish you don't want to eat.
  • Make sure you have a basic set of first aid equipment.
  • Do not fish for protected species. For information see Sea angling in Norway - Regulations for foreign visitors (fiskeridir.no)
