Mardalfossen is the highest waterfall in northern Europe and has a free fall of 297 metres, and a total of 655 metres. Mardalfossen is located near the Eikesdalvatnet in Romsdal. You can only visit the waterfall between 20 June and 20 August. The rest of the year the waterfall is barred because the power is used to generate electricity. Stop on the RV660 at the car park at Mardalen. From here it is a 2km walk to the waterfall.

Mardalfossen is 180 km from the flats, which is almost a 3-hour drive. It is part of the Aursjøvegen.
