Stairs from Midsund.

Across the fjord is the village of Midsund. Four sets of stairs have been built there by the sherpas from Nepal. An annual competition is held there, but you can also climb these stairs yourself. For instance, you can climb the Rorsethørnet, which consists of 2200 steps. At the top, you have a 360-degree view of the surroundings. Along the way, there are sitting areas for picnics. It is a tough climb, but the steps make it easier than a normal mountain hike.

Midsund is an island, and is best reached by boat from the fiskesenter. You can also go via Molde by car, which is a considerable, but nice, diversions. You can rent a boat at reception, or make an appointment to be ferried across.
